This will be my second fact in February for CHD Awareness Month, but tomorrow I will start my small photo blog for CHD Awareness Week until February 14th. Tomorrow I will also be posting a video that my mom and I created for CHD Awareness. Everybody in the video has a congenital heart defect. I took about half of the photos at the Annual T.O.U.C.H. Picnic in the fall.
This month is Congenital Heart Awareness Month so I will be posting a fact every day. Plus on February 7th - 14th I will be doing a small blog post with a picture every day, and then I will create another slide show with all my photos on my Album page.
As the holidays come to a close our teachers are talking about High school Registration, but before that we are starting to get a lot more homework. One thing we have to do is write a science research paper, and it can be anything related to heredity and genes. As I was trying to figure out what to do I figured out that left-sided congenital heart defects are linked to a gene. I am researching this because including me and my brother we have 4 people in our family with left-sided congenital heart defects. On another topic I now have an info page up about CHD. Plus I've got a new slideshow up of nature photos, that my friend helped me take, on my album page. Again please comment and tell me your story.
Holidays are fun, but in Illinois they are generally cold. In the winter it is really cold, and right now it is -9 degrees, with 10 inches of snow in Central Illinois. Usually when there is that much snow you see people outside having fun, but when you have a heart condition it is different. With a heart condition you have to pay attention to the weather. At school I am not supposed to go out side when it is cold because for me it makes my heart work really hard to keep me warm, and it takes a long time for my body to get warm after I"ve been out in the cold.. Althought I do get to be by the fire to keep me warm, during the holidays. Look at my Album to see all of my Holiday Photos, and please share your experiences with me through a comment.
My name is Justin Hulett and I am a 13 year old with a congenital heart defect. I have Hypo-plastic Left Heart Syndrome.
